made in early 2020 - Covid-19
During the early days of Covid-19, facemasks were hard to come by due to the governments lack of preparation and planning for a respiratory pandemic. Using my personal 3D printer, I was able to manufacture reusable facemasks with N95 filter material for my co-workers and friends.
These face masks were a great example of the capabilities of 3D printing for rapid and decentralized manufacturing. Even details such as threads can be 3D printed successfully.
By using american made PETG from Atomic Filament, I was able to customize the colors of the masks for whoever wanted one.
Some more completed masks with the N95 filter material. These filters can be washed and reused, and the masks can be disinfected using normal household cleaners.
The inside of the masks used an adhesive rubber gasket to help seal around the face and make the masks more confortable to wear.
Starry night blue and aqua blue masks.
Some of the lighter weight versions of the masks for extended wear.
